Unemployment Relief Programme (URP)

Apply for short-term work and contribute to community-based projects.

About the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP)

The URP is designed to provide temporary employment opportunities while enhancing participants’ skills and supporting community development. The programme emphasizes training, entrepreneurial skill-building, and community-based projects.

Participants contribute to small-scale initiatives such as disaster response, beautification, and infrastructure rehabilitation, while women benefit from specialized training through the Women’s Programme. Employment is offered on a rotational basis every 2–3 fortnights, and participants receive a monetary stipend for their efforts.

The URP has three core components:

Employment Component

Offers short-term employment opportunities and assists community groups with small-scale projects.

Women’s Programme

Focuses on training women in crafts, cleaning, geriatric care, and more.

Special Projects Delivery

Engages small-scale contractors to execute beautification and repair projects.
