Services Details

Publication of Marriage Banns 

Where to Apply: Civil Registry, Attorney General’s Office, Port of Spain 

Required Documents: 

Valid ID of both parties

Original divorce absolute or death certificate of previous spouse and certified translation thereto (if applicable) 

Processing Time: 1 day

Cost: $10.00

Marriage Licence Certificate 

Where to Apply: Marriage Clerk, Civil Registry, Port of Spain 

Processing Time: 7 days after banns are posted

Cost: $10.00

Renewal of Marriage Officer’s Licence 

Where to Apply: Solicitor General’s Office, Tower C, International Waterfront Centre

Cost: $100.00

Issue of President’s Licence (Waives marriage banns requirement) 

Where to Apply: Civil Registry, Attorney General’s Office, Port of Spain or Tobago 

Required Documents: 

Original divorce absolute or death certificate (if applicable)

Letter explaining need for the licence 

Processing Time: 3 days (Trinidad), 7 days (Tobago)

Cost: $100.00

Application for President’s Authority (For non-residents marrying a national) 

Process:

Post a marriage notice at the nearest Warden’s Office ($10.00) 

Obtain a copy 7 days later and visit the Marriage Clerk, Civil Registry

Complete and submit Application Forms ($100.00) 

Return after 3-7 days to collect President’s Authority 

Present the President’s Authority at the Warden’s Office to obtain a Marriage Licence ($10.00)

Required Documents: 

Valid ID of resident 

Divorce absolute or death certificate (if applicable) 

Copy of Marriage Notice from Warden’s Office 

Statutory declaration from the foreign party (notarized) 

Special Marriage Licence (For Visitors) 

Who Qualifies? Non-residents (persons who have not resided in Trinidad & Tobago for at least 3 years) 

Required Documents: 

Valid ID (passport preferred) 

Divorce absolute or death certificate (if applicable) 

Proof of entry into Trinidad & Tobago
