About the On-the-Job Training Programme (OJT)

The OJT Programme is a pre-employment initiative designed to equip participants with hands-on occupational skills and experience. Trainees gain exposure to real-world work environments while earning a stipend based on their educational qualifications. Placements last up to 24 months across five qualification levels. 

Qualification Levels and Stipends

Level 1

For individuals with CXC passes or Craft Level Training

Stipend: $3,555.00 per month. 

Level 2

For individuals with CAPE, A-Level qualifications, or Diplomas. 

Stipend: $4,356.00 per month. 

Level 3

For individuals with Associate Degrees.

Stipend: $5,445.00 per month. 

Level 4

For individuals with Undergraduate Degrees.

Stipend: $7,562.50 per month. 

Level 5

For individuals with Postgraduate Degrees (Master’s, PhDs). 

Stipend: $8,712.00 per month.

Providing structured workplace training to individuals aged 16-35. 

Matching trainees’ skills with the needs of employers. 

Encouraging professional development through its Trainee Development Programme.

How to Apply For OJT – For Trainees

If you’re between 16-35 years old, follow these steps to register for the OJT Programme: 

Step 1: Prepare Your Documents

Academic Certificates (e.g., CSEC, CAPE, Diploma, Degree). 

National Identification Card. 

Birth Certificate. 

Updated résumé. 

Recent Utility Bill (no older than 2 months) for proof of address. If the bill is not in your name, provide a Letter of Authorization and a copy of the bill owner’s ID. 

Step 2: Submit Your Application: 

Visit the OJT office closest to your residential location between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. 

Ensure all documents are included. Incomplete applications will not be processed. 

Step 3: Attend Your Interview

An OJT Official will contact you to schedule an interview. 

Dress in professional business attire and bring your National ID and Academic Certificates. 

Step 4: Placement

Trainees are matched with placements based on qualifications and areas of interest. Successful applicants will be notified by phone or email. 

How to Apply For OJT – For Training Providers

Employers in both the public and private sectors can register as training providers with the OJT Programme. Here’s how:

Step 1: Complete the Employer Registration & Request Form

Provide basic information about your organization, requested trainee details (e.g., job titles, qualifications), and the number of trainees required. 

Step 2: Submit Your Documents

Email the form and job descriptions to the Placement and Marketing Officer (PMO II) in your region or drop them off at an OJT office. 

Step 3: Facilitate a Site Visit

The OJT team will conduct a site visit to assess your office environment. Private sector providers must provide original registration documents (e.g., NIB, BIR, VAT registration). An OSHA inspection will follow to ensure compliance. 

Step 4: Approval

Final approval is granted by the Director of the OJT Programme. 

Benefits for Employers: 

Private sector providers are reimbursed 60% of trainee stipends. 

Public sector providers and NGOs have 100% of stipends covered by the OJT Programme.
