Certificates of Character

The Certificate of Character is an official document issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) that states whether an individual has any criminal convictions recorded against their name. It is often required for job applications, visa processing, immigration procedures, or other official transactions.

This service applies to citizens and non-citizens who have resided in Trinidad and Tobago for six months or more.

Eligibility

Any individual aged 16 and over who has lived in Trinidad and Tobago for at least six months.

Required Documents:

Valid national ID card, driver’s permit, or passport

Completed application form

TTD $50

Processing Time

Approximately 2–3 weeks from the date of fingerprint submission

How to Apply for a Certificates of Character

Step 1: Complete the Online Form

Complete the application form located here

Step 2: Attend your appointment

Have your fingerprints taken by an officer at the station.

Step 3: Wait for Processing

Processing takes approximately 2–3 weeks. You will be contacted when your certificate is ready.

Step 4: Collect Your Certificate

Return to the station with your ID to collect the completed Certificate of Character.
