The Commonwealth Caribbean Seasonal Agricultural Worker Programme (CCSAWP) is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Labour to expand employment opportunities for citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

This programme offers temporary agricultural work on Canadian farms in the provinces of Ontario and Alberta, lasting between six weeks and eight months.

Participants engage in cultivating and harvesting fruits, vegetables, flowers, tobacco, and other crops, as well as working in nurseries and hydroponics. Beyond earning an income, workers gain valuable agricultural knowledge and exposure to foreign practices.

Step 1: Check Eligibility Criteria

Be 21–45 years old.

Have experience or a background in agriculture.

Be physically capable of performing strenuous work (e.g., bending, stooping) in extreme weather conditions.

Pass security checks, a medical examination, and screening interviews.

Look out for advertisements in newspapers or online platforms announcing application openings.

Step 3: Prepare for Travel

Processing Police Certificates of Character and medical examinations.

Assisting with work visa applications.

Briefing on Canadian customs, culture, weather, and work ethic.

Step 4: Travel to Canada

The Farm Programme Unit will assist at the airport during departure.
