What happens after an application is made?

All applications are submitted to the Chief Immigration Officer for a report.  Staff from the Ministry's Citizenship and Immigration Section will review each application and, if necessary, request omitted information.  Once an application is deemed complete, the Ministry will send you written notification of the date and time of your interview.

During the interview, the Chief Immigration Officer will determine if you qualify for Citizenship.  After the interview, the Ministry will send you written notification of the final decision.  Applicants who are granted Citizenship must pay the appropriate fee listed below and take the Oath of Allegiance before receiving their Certificate of Citizenship.
