The Scarborough Library Facility

The recently reopened Scarborough Library Facility was commissioned on Sunday February 22nd 2015. This facility houses four libraries, namely; the Dr Eastlyn McKenzie Children's Library, the Young Adult Library, the James Biggart Adult Library and the Susan Craig James Heritage Library. The Scarborough Library also houses a theatre style auditorium named after former head of Tobago Library Services, Mrs Anne Mitchell- Gift.

Regionally, this modern facility is at the head of its class as it is the first in the Caribbean to house an Automated Book Return Machine and Automated Laptop Kiosk Dispensers. Patrons are also able to access cutting edge technology as they can check out items for themselves from the self-check units located in the Adult, Young Adult and Children's Library, as well as top up their library cards to facilitate printing and photocopying.

The facility has specialised spaces for all as a fully equipped unit for Visually Impaired Persons (VIP's) has been included on the ground floor of the building. As the name suggests, this unit provides equipment and software to aid persons with visual impairments.

At present the library has over 50,000 books and materials which are constantly being loaned to the 5400 users that are currently registered.

This facility is one of three public libraries on the island of Tobago. The other two being the Charlotteville Branch Library and the Roxborough Branch Library.

Residents are encouraged to visit the library's website at to register and to view updates.
