What happens after I apply?

All applications are placed in a queue in the order in which they are received.  Staff from the Citizenship and Immigration Section will review each application and, if necessary, request omitted information.  Once an application is deemed to be complete, the Ministry will send written notification to the applicant of the date and time he or she has been scheduled for an interview.  During the interview, an Immigration Officer will determine if the applicant qualifies for Resident Status.  After the interview, the Ministry will send the applicant written notification of the final decision regarding his or her application for Resident Status.

The period of time from when you apply to final decision may vary from one to four years.
