HDC Commercial Property Rental


Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Commercial Units are constructed in large HDC communities to provide residents with retail services close to their homes. Units are constructed with the same high standards as HDC homes and eliminate the need for entrepreneurs to erect informal, unapproved structures around the neighbourhood. It also provides small entrepreneurs within the community with the opportunity to get into business. First consideration for commercial unit rentals is given to residents within or close to the community who wish to provide a business service.  Secondary consideration is given to persons who fall outside those areas.




How do I apply?

During construction of new commercial units, letters inviting Expressions of Interest are sent to each household in the particular community. Residents who express interest are sent an application form that they are required to complete and return to the HDC.

Completed application forms can be delivered or mailed to:

How are applicants selected?

HDC selects recipients based on the mix of business needed in the area and the commercial space available. The following information must also be submitted:

 

  • Police Certificate of Character (see link below for more information).
  • Financial Statements (i.e. statement of savings/indebtedness).
  • Passport-size photo of each applicant.

 

 

Please note that preference is given to unemployed persons with a sound business plan and source of capital.
